WASHINGTON — In many ways, the Winnipeg Jets played close to a perfect road game Sunday night against an elite opponent. But they were unable to turn that into victory, falling 3-1 to a Washington Capitals team that made the most of its extremely limited chances.
Winnipeg falls to 40-24-4, including 2-2-0 on a tough four-game, eight-day eastern road swing. Washington improves to 41-21-7 with its seventh straight win, as the defending Stanley Cup champions appear to be in fine form heading down the stretch.
