DALLAS, TX – The National Hockey League has slapped a $2,000 fine on Winnipeg Jets rookie Nikolaj Ehlers for diving/embellishment.
The fine comes under Rule 64 (Diving/Embellishment) and is ‘designed to bring attention to and more seriously penalize players (and teams) who repeatedly dive and embellish in an attempt to draw penalties.’ The fines are issues by the league’s operations department, which tracks all the games and logs all penalties for diving or embellishment while also noting all plays not called on the ice it determines were deserving of a penalty.
