Jets Burmistrov fined for elbowing Supergeon Sunday night

Winnipeg Jets left-winger Alexander Burmistrov is now on the NHL's watch list.

Burmistrov was fined $4,166.67 by the league today for his second-period elbow on Minnesota Wild defenceman Jared Spurgeon on Sunday at the MTS Centre.

Burmistrov received an elbowing penalty on the play.

In the team's season-opener in Boston, Burmistrov threw a hit that contacted the head of Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron. He was penalized for that play, an illegal check to the head, as well.

That undoubtedly caught the NHL's attention and would have been a factor in today's fine.

Burmistrov's fine money will go to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.
