The Winnipeg Jets announced on Monday evening they have resigned defenceman Julian Melchiori to a one-year deal worth $600,000.
The deal is a two-way contract and it’s probably safe to assume that Melchiori will spend most of his 2015-16 season on the Manitoba Moose side of the MTS Centre. In fact, Melchiori has appeared in only one NHL game, coming back in 2013 two days after Christmas, when he logged close to nine minutes against the Minnesota Wild.
He spent all of last season with the St. John’s IceCaps, tallying six points in 70 games and barring a massive outbreak of injuries to the club’s left-handed defenceman, he’ll likely serve as AHL filler depth once again.
