The Winnipeg Jets have hired Jamie Kompon as an assistant coach, the team announced Saturday.
Kompon, a native of Thunder Bay, fills a void left by Pascal Vincent, who was hired in late May to take over the bench of the Manitoba Moose, the Jets’ AHL affiliate. Kompon will work under head coach Paul Maurice, joining fellow assistant coach Charlie Huddy.
At 49, Kompon brings with him years of NHL experience. He was an assistant coach with the L.A. Kings for five seasons, from 2006-11, and the following two years with the Chicago Blackhawks, winning a Stanley Cup with each team.
