Some Winnipeg Jets will be wearing new numbers this year.
Winnipeg Jets goalie Connor Hellebuyck will have a new number on the outside of his jersey and a patch on the inside honouring the memory of a former member of the Atlanta Thrashers.
Hellebuyck will wear No. 37 on his sweater this season instead of No. 30 and he has the blessing of the family of Dan Snyder, a forward with the Thrashers who died in a car crash in 2003.
No other Atlanta players wore that number and the Jets had carried over the tradition when the NHL team moved north in 2011.
