With just three days left until the season opener on Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets, the Boston Bruins made three moves on Monday.
The Bruins placed forward Max Talbot and goaltender Jeremy Smith on waivers early on Monday, and placed defenseman and captain Zdeno Chara on injured reserve later this evening.
Both Talbot and Smith may end up back in the Bruins system, as they can be assigned to the Providence Bruins roster if they go unclaimed over the next 24 hours.
While the Smith move was expected, especially after the Bruins signed goalie Jonas Gustavsson to a deal to become Tuukka Rask’s backup this season, the Talbot move was a surprise one.
