The biggest Fish of all is holding off on retirement and coming back to the Winnipeg Goldeyes.
Reggie Abercrombie, the all-time American Association leader in home runs and RBI, will once again be in his familiar place in centre field at Shaw Park this summer. Abercrombie, 36, signed a deal Wednesday to return for a fifth season.
Like fine wine, Abercrombie seems to actually be getting better with age. He hit .272 last season with 16 home runs and 82 RBI, which were second-most in the league. He also stole 20 bases and scored 72 runs, showing there’s plenty of life left in his legs as well.
