WICHITA, Kan. – New Mexico starter Riley Egloff blanked Wichita State over eight innings, powering the Lobos to a 4-0 win in the series opener on Friday night at Eck Stadium.
Egloff (4-0) allowed just four hits over his eight frames, striking out nine while walking three. The right-hander threw 111 pitches and allowed just one Wichita State baserunner to reach third base. Brian McBroom struck out the side in the ninth to nail down the win for New Mexico (7-11).
Wichita State's (1-1) put together a strong start of his own, allowing just a single run through the first five innings on an RBI groundout from Adam Schneider in the top of the second.
