WSU baseball sweeps Furman

Wichita State pitchers continued to baffle Furman on Sunday.

Five Shocker pitchers combined to hold Furman to two hits and struck out 12, and WSU (17-4) completed a three-game weekend sweep with a 3-1 victory Sunday at Eck Stadium.

In the series, Furman batters fanned 37 times, getting just 10 hits and scoring four earned runs. Furman is 13-11.

Travis Young opened the bottom of the third with a bunt single, and Luke Ritter followed with a single. Trey Vickers’ single loaded the bases. Alec Bohm walked to force in Young, then Paxton Wallace hit into a double play, scoring Ritter and giving WSU a 2-1 lead.
