WICHITA, Kan. - Wichita State's Yazmine Wright was named the American Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Week.
Wright ran a personal-best time of 17:34.10 in the 5,000 meters, winning her first-ever collegiate cross country meet at Saturday's JK Gold Classic. She crossed the line 39 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Wright earned all-conference honors for her fifth-place finish at last year's American Athletic Conference Cross Country Championships. She also earned all-conference honors in 2019 for her 13th-place performance.
