WICHITA, Kan. – Wichita State's Yazmine Wright was named the American Athletic Conference Cross Country Athlete of the Week for the second time in three meets.
Wright, a senior from Hutchinson, Kan., ran a personal-best time of 20:53.90 to win the 6k at the Gans Creek Invitational in Columbia, Mo. Wright and Missouri's Sarah Chapman battled in out in the final kilometer of the race, but Wright pulled away on the final stretch to win the meet by seven seconds.
Wichita State cross country heads to Peoria, Illinois Friday, Oct. 15 for the Bradley Pink Classic where the women will race first in the 6k at 3 p.
