In the eye of painter, elephants are a versatile subject for a blank canvas. So much room to explore with big ears, tusks, thick legs and wide side-panels. Fierce or friendly? Strong or tubby?
Wichita State senior Jody Larson loves painting elephants, as the walls of her bedroom demonstrate with acrylic paint on canvas.
“There’s multiple elephants up there,” she said. “I just like elephants You can do a lot with them.”
Larson’s art is her escape from school and volleyball. After a match, she often returns to her family’s home in west Wichita and walks downstairs to her room.
