Wichita State’s 1970 football team, Arkansas players to remember game following plane crash

On Oct. 1, members of Wichita State’s 1970 football team will attend a game at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Ark., as a remembrance of the plane crash that killed 31 people.

Wichita State played its first game after the crash against Arkansas on Oct. 24, 1970 at that stadium. Around 40 people connected to WSU are expected to attend for the weekend.

Former WSU football player John Potts and former Arkansas player Chuck Dicus organized the events. Arkansas plays Alcorn State on Oct. 1.

Dicus said a business associate met Potts and they talked about Shockers football.
