Wichita State won its first men’s indoor Missouri Valley Conference track and field title since 2010 on Sunday.
The Shockers finished with 141.5 points at the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Southern Illinois finished second with 132.5 points. WSU had finished second behind Indiana State the past three seasons.
WSU’s women finished second with 111 points behind Illinois State’s 121.
WSU grabbed five of the top seven spots in the heptathlon, led by Kyle Troxler finishing second with 5,061 points. Jared Belardo won the long jump (25 feet, 9 1/2 inches) and the triple jump (51-2 3/4).
