VanVleet enters the starting lineup in his final home game, against the Illinois State Redbirds on Saturday. VanVleet was named MVC Player of the Year on Tuesday.
VanVleet last won the award after his sophomore season in 2014. He finished third in the voting last season, with Northern Iowa’s Seth Tuttle winning the title. VanVleet joins Xavier McDaniel as the lone WSU player to earn the title twice. He is the fourth Shocker to win the award and the ninth MVC player to win twice.
“I always keep confidence in myself,” VanVleet said. “You don’t work this hard to take second place.
