WICHITA, Kan. -- Kelsey Slawson set the school record in the shot put Friday afternoon to set the tone for the Shocker Open where 21 Shockers won events at Cessna Stadium.
Slawson threw 48-2.75/14.70m to break the previous record of 47-11.75/14.62m set by Kellie Wartick in 2007.
For the men, Austin Chippeaux set a personal best by clearing the seven-foot mark at 7-0.25/2.14m, besting his previous personal best by two inches set earlier this year. His effort makes him the sixth Shocker in history to clear the seven-foot mark.
Also for the men, Zach Loesch won the shot put (59-5/18.
