Jacksonville, Fla. – Wichita State used a trio of three-run home runs and a 12-run outburst against the Iowa bullpen to knock off the #18-ranked Hawkeyes 12-6 on Sunday afternoon at 121 Financial Ballpark in the final game of the Jacksonville College Baseball Classic.
The win improves Wichita State to 14-0 against Iowa in the all-time series, though a win in 2013 was later vacated by the NCAA.
The Shockers set a new school record by earning six hit by pitches in the game, including three HBPs for to match an individual school record.
The Shockers (3-3) trailed 5-0 into the top of the sixth and had been silenced by Iowa starter Cade Obermueller, who struck out six and allowed just three hits over five scoreless innings.
