WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State scored in each of the first five innings on their way to a 14-2 win over Newman on Tuesday afternoon at Eck Stadium. The game was called after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
The Shockers (12-20) sprinted to a 7-0 lead in the first two innings. A RBI single opened the scoring in the bottom of the first, followed by a two-run homer for a 3-0 lead.
Two run-scoring wild pitches, another Gustafson RBI single and bases-loaded hit by pitch swelled the lead to seven while the Shocker pitching staff kept the Jets (8-27) at bay.
