GREENVILLE, N.C. – East Carolina scored twice in the bottom of the first inning and never trailed, defeating Wichita State 10-3 on Saturday evening at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
The Shockers (12-18) loaded the bases with one out in the top of the first on three hits, but could not score against East Carolina starter Jake Kuchmaner. In the bottom of the inning, Payton Tolle retired the first two hitters to open the frame, but the next four hitters reached base, capped by a two-run single off the bat of Jacob Jenkins-Cowart for a 2-0 lead.
