WICHITA, Kan. – A run-filled day did not fall the Shockers' way as they fell short in an offensive shootout on Wednesday evening to No. 2/2 Oklahoma, 19-16, in front of a record-breaking crowd of 1,245 at Wilkins Stadium.
Wichita State's 16 runs are the most an Oklahoma team has allowed since June 3, 2019 in the Women's College World Series when UCLA put 16 on the Sooners in the championship series. The Shockers' five home runs were also the most Oklahoma has given up this season.
In the top of the first, the Sooners set the tone with an overpowering eight runs on six hits, taking a commanding 8-0 lead.
