LAS VEGAS, Nev. – The Wichita State softball team began its weekend with a 13-2 run-rule, defeating San Jose State in the Demarini Desert Classic.
Offensively, the Shockers had 14 hits with Mackenzie Wright and Kelli Spring both collecting three each. Liz Broyles and Paige Luellen also added three RBIs each.
Kelsey Sterneker got the win for the Shockers throwing four innings and giving up one run.
Both teams got off to a slow start until a solo homerun by Cassidy Kelsheimer gave the Shockers an early 1-0 lead.
