AUSTIN, Texas. – The Wichita State softball team scored five runs on eight hits to defeat the Virginia Tech Hokies 5-2 to close out the Texas Invitational.
The Hokies struck first in the second inning after a throwing error got a runner to first with two walks loading the bases. Hailey Martinez replaced Bailey Klitzke in the circle with two smart plays at home getting out the inning with minimal damage. Wright threw to home to tag out a runner with a single into left field getting the one Hokie home but a huge throw from Morgan Palmer reached home plate for Madison Perrigan to tag the second runner and get out the jam.
