beat out a two-run, infield single with two outs in the seventh and three Wichita State relievers combined for five scoreless innings as the Shockers bested Rice 7-5 on Thursday night at Eck Stadium.
With the game tied at 5-5 in the seventh, the Shockers loaded the bases on two walks and a hit by pitch sandwiched around a pair of outs. Rogers quickly fell into an 0-2 hole against reliever Tom Vincent, then smashed a hard ground ball up the middle that was gloved by a diving Jack Riedel at shortstop. Riedel's throw to first was not in time to get Rogers and raced all the way around from second in the process to give the Shockers a 7-5 lead.
