WICHITA, Kan. -- Wichita State won their fifth five-set match of the season on Friday night, surviving a marathon two-hour, 52-minute affair to take down Memphis 25-19, 25-18, 24-26, 25-27, 15-12 at Charles Koch Arena.
The Shockers (11-10, 6-3) got a number of career-best performances, including (career-high 18 kills, 10 blocks), (career-high nine kills and 20 digs, 44 assists) and (19 digs). They needed every one of them to survive a feisty Memphis comeback that saw the Tigers win consecutive sets in extra points before the Shockers finally pulled away in the fifth.
Wichita State comfortably controlled the first two stanzas by stifling the Memphis attack.
