Jacob Katzfey dashed home from second base on a wild pitch to give Wichita State a 2-1 victory over Oklahoma on Tuesday night at Eck Stadium.
Mason O’Brien led off the bottom of the eighth by hitting a pop fly in the infield. OU pitcher Austin Hansen tried to make the catch as four Sooner infielders stood by him. However, Hansen missed the pop-up for an error.
Katzfey was sent in to pinch-run for O’Brien. Trey Vickers, who had homered in the second to gain a 1-1 tie, sacrificed Katzfey to second.
Hansen then threw a wild pitch that enabled Katzfey to score from second base.
