WICHITA, Kan. – Freshman tallied his first collegiate double-double with a career-high-tying 15 points and career-best 11 rebounds, leading the Wichita State University men's basketball team to an 84-66 victory over the Abilene Christian Wildcats Sunday, Dec. 29, inside Charles Koch Arena.
Wichita State, which moved to 11-1 on the season with the win, is scheduled to open American Athletic Conference play with a New Year's Day showdown against ECU (6-7) Wednesday, Jan. 1, at 2 p.m. at Charles Koch Arena.
Sherfield, who hails from Wichita, netted 11 of his 15 points in the second-half and went a perfect 6-for-6 from the floor, including 1-of-1 from three-point range, pacing the Shockers.
