The Shockers (26-26, 12-11) secured their fourth consecutive win and second consecutive conference series win, moving them into sole possession of third place in the American Athletic Conference standings pending the result of East Carolina and Tulane on Saturday night.
Favors (8-4) was brilliant in his final Eck Stadium appearance, allowing seven hits and two runs over 7.2 innings while striking out eight and issuing no walks. He was tagged for a run in the first and another in the third when Carson Bayne's fly ball to center field got lost in the sun for a triple, but recovered to hold the 49ers (22-29, 11-12) off the board in the fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
