WICHITA, Kan. -- Grand Canyon claimed two back-and-forth sets with late rallies, knocking off Wichita State 15-25, 27-25, 24-26, 23-25 on Sunday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena.
Wichita State ends the season 18-13, while Grand Canyon advances to Round 2 of the NIVC to take on Drake on Monday night.
The Lopes (18-10) used a key 7-0 run to grab control of the opening set, turning a 12-11 lead into 19-11. Grand Canyon finished the first set with just one more kill than the Shockers, but WSU had eight attack errors, five service errors, one blocking error and one ball-handing error to produce more than half of the GCU points.
