WICHITA – Wichita State freshman recorded the fifth-best mark in the NCAA, jumping 7.94m/26'0.5" to win the long jump at the Friends Spring Open on Friday evening.
The freshman from Olathe, Kan. only recorded one fair mark in six jumps, but one was enough to claim the American Athletic Conference lead, the fifth-farthest mark in the nation this season, the third-best mark in Shocker history and the Friends Spring Open long jump win. The jump puts him in position to qualify for the NCAA West Preliminaries.
Chidera Okoro gave the Shockers the long jump sweep, winning the women's competition with an outdoor personal-best jump of 5.
