The No. 11 Stanford women’s basketball team shot 62.3 percent in an 87-39 victory over Wichita State on Friday morning in Cancun, Mexico.
WSU (1-4) dropped its fourth straight game, second straight in Mexico. The Shockers face Northeastern on Saturday to conclude the three-game round robin.
Rangie Bessard, the Shockers’ leading scorer at 13 points per game, was held scoreless. She sat much of the first half with foul trouble, then was injured in the second half.
Jeliah Preston led WSU with 8 points, all in the fourth quarter.
Stanford (5-1), which was led by Brittany McPhee and Shannon Coffee’s 13 points each, outrebounded Wichita State 45-18 and had 23 assists to the Shockers’ nine.
