EUGENE, Oregon—The Wichita State track and field teams helped open Hayward Field with the first day of the Hayward Premiere on Friday night.
Michael Bryan won the men's hammer throw. He threw the hammer 68.54m/224-10 to improve his own school record by nearly two meters. The win is the first victory at Hayward Field since it was renovated.
Bryan's mark in the hammer throw is No. 6 in the country this year. The mark is also ranked third in the West region and No. 2 in the American Athletic Conference.
Cory Martens also competed in the men's hammer throw, taking seventh place with a throw of 56.
