HOUSTON – Wichita State carried a 3-1 lead into the bottom of the eighth inning, but Houston scored twice in the eighth and once in the ninth to walk off the Shockers 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Schroeder Park.
With one out and nobody aboard in the eighth, Samuel Benjamin reached on an error. Pinch-hitter Samuel Tormos then worked a walk, putting men at first and second. Connor Holden came out of the WSU bullpen and allowed an RBI single to Brandon Uhse, trimming the Wichita State lead to 3-2. After a strikeout, Cameron Nickens bounced a ground ball to third that Xavier Casserilla gloved on a dive, but his throw to first base sailed high allowing the tying run to score.
