Samajae Haynes-Jones left Wichita for two years of college, hoping to come back.
On Thursday, he gave Wichita State a non-binding commitment and is on track to play his final two seasons at Koch Arena, where he won the 2015 Class 6A title with East. He is a sophomore guard at Hutchinson Community College who earned second-team All-Jayhawk Conference honors last season.
“That’s my hometown, so it felt good to commit back there,” he said. “The coaching staff, overall, I felt really comfortable with.”
Haynes-Jones (5-foot-11, 170 pounds) can sign with WSU beginning Nov. 9. He averaged 15.
