Fans got their first look at the 2018-19 Wichita State men's and women's baketball teams and witnessed some late-game heroics Saturday afternoon at the inaugural Black & Yellow Scrimmage.
In the men's portion, Jamarius Burton's driving, twisting jumper with just seconds on the clock gave Black a 26-25 intersquad victory over Yellow. Lozada-Cabbage hit a jumper of her own to cap a 10-minute women's session and salvage a 13-13 tie.
The two programs have a combined total of 21 newcomers. Three others are coming off of redshirt years.
Lozada-Cabbage -- one of just two seniors on the women's team -- led the Black squad with seven points, while junior Maya Brewer paced the Yellow squad with seven points of her own.
