Diaz Lopez Breaks Wichita State 5K Record at Raleigh Relays

RALEIGH, N.C. – In his first outdoor race in two years in a Wichita State uniform, Adrian Diaz Lopez set a new program record in the 5,000 meters Friday evening at the Raleigh Relays.

The redshirt-senior from Spain ran 13:54.25 to finish sixth in his heat and 42nd overall, breaking Brady Johnson's record of 14:03.58 from 2015. He's the first-ever Shocker to run sub-14 minutes and holds the second-fastest time this season in the American Athletic Conference behind Tulane's Silas Kiptanui.
