WICHITA – Creighton Camp and Samantha Marx earned throwing event wins on day one of the Shocker Spring Invitational, while Tess Roman leads the heptathlon competition after four events.
Camp bested his previous personal record by over 10 feet to win his 2023 hammer throw debut with a toss of 53.22m/174'7", which Marx followed up with a javelin win, throwing 42.08m/138'1". Freshman Emma Bezdek made her Shocker javelin debut with a second-place finish and a throw of 37.35m/122'6".
On day one of the heptathlon, Freshman Tess Roman recorded the top mark in the high jump with a 1.
