GREENVILLE, N.C. – Cameron Bye fired eight shutout innings with a career high-tying eight strikeouts, and Wichita State salvaged the series finale with a 5-0 win over East Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Clark-LeClair Stadium.
Bye (3-0) continued his remarkable start to the 2022 season, lowering his season ERA to 0.24 (1 ER over 37.0 innings). He held the Pirates to just three hits on the afternoon, and has now allowed just two extra-base hits the entire season while holding opponents to a .122 average.
Chuck Ingram provided all the offense the Shockers would need in the top of the third, slamming a two-run homer to left after Andrew Stewart coaxed a two-out walk, giving Wichita State (13-18) a 2-0 lead.
