WICHITA, Kan. – The Black Team tallied five extra-base hits on its way to a 5-4 victory over the Yellow Team in the 2018 Wichita State Baseball Fall World Series finale on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Eck Stadium.
With the victory, the Black Team completed a three-game series sweep of the Yellow Team after winning game one, 2-0, and game two, 6-4.
Sophomore Paxton Wallace went 3-for-4 with a double while freshman David VanVooren hit a two-run home run, and fellow freshman Carson Cox added a triple, leading the Black Team.
Freshman left-handed pitcher Cal Carver (1-0) earned the victory on the mound after giving up three runs – none earned – on two hits with eight strikeouts and four walks in five innings.
