WICHITA, Kan. – Six runs in the top of the first was more than enough run support for the 12th-ranked Stanford Cardinal Thursday, as No. 23 Wichita State fell, 11-0, at Wilkins Stadium.
Wichita State (16-4) saw its 11-game win streak come to an end, tied for the fourth longest in school history.
Stanford entered with one of the nation's top pitching staffs and proved it. Alana Vawter was 8-1 with a 1.07 ERA before the game and lowered her ERA to 0.95. She struck out seven Shockers increasing her season total to 64 with only two walks in 66.
