Shocker baseball broke out of its 11-game losing streak with a pair of wins against the Memphis Tigers and claimed their first conference series of the 2022 season.
In the opening frame of game of the series, sophomore Brock Rodden grabbed the Shockers an early lead with a solo home run on the seventh pitch of the game. Continuing to build their lead, junior Andrew Stewart brought in his 12th RBI of the season off a double, scoring freshman Payton Tolle.
Rodden, who went 2-for-4 at the plate, extended his hitting streak with a single. Doubling their 2-0 lead, junior Sawyre Thornhill launched a two-run homer to dead center.
