WICHITA, Kan. - Redshirt Sophomore Nicolas Acevedo went unbeaten in singles and doubles play to help the Shockers go 2-0 last week, including the Shockers first Top 25 win in 36 years when they beat No. 22 Memphis, en route to being named the American Athletic Conference Men's Player of the Week.
Acevedo, a native of Concepcion, Chile, beat No. 22 Memphis' Jan Pallares in straight sets on the fourth line, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the match. He also extended his singles winning streak to four, as he also picked up a win versus Omaha's Phillip Olsson, 6-1, 6-1.
