KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Western Michigan women's tennis team opened its 2020 dual campaign with a 4-3 victory over Oakland at the West Hills Athletic Club. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the Broncos have defeated the Golden Grizzlies in their season opener.
"What a great win for our squad to start off the year," said head coach Ryan Tomlinson. "We were able to beat a very good Oakland team today."
The Broncos won the doubles point to jump ahead to an early 1-0 advantage. The junior pair of Jeryn Jack and Valerie Riegraf defeated Samantha Galloway and Aarja Chakraborty 6-3 at the #2 position, while senior Gabriela Slavova and freshman Lindsey Zieglar teamed up for the 6-4 victory in #3 doubles.
