Women's Tennis Splits with No. 47 Illinois and Chicago State

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team split matches with No. 47 Illinois and Chicago State on Saturday, falling to the Fighting Illini, 7-0, and earning the win over the Cougars, 4-0.

UI took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. In singles, Illinois won five of the six matches in two sets, while Polina Khotko battled to a third set against No. 112 Violeta Martinez but fell 5-7, 7-6 (7-2), 0-1 (3-10).

WMU started off with an advantage in doubles against the Cougars, due to them not being able to field a third doubles team.
