KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's basketball team dropped its first Mid-American Conference match to Ball State 78-56 Wednesday evening. The Broncos were led by Kaitlyn Zarycki, who supplied 27 points and five assists after shooting 9-16 from the field, 3-3 from distance, and 6-7 from the free throw line.
During the first quarter of play, the Brown and Gold were limited to nine points. In the first frame Wednesday, Jasmine Elder led Western Michigan with four points off two made layups.
Later, in the second quarter, WMU managed to cut the Ball State deficit to eight points after recording a 10-6 advantage from the 7:37 mark to the 2:03 mark in the second.
