Women’s Basketball Falls to Kent State

KENT, Ohio -- The Western Michigan University women's basketball team dropped its Mid-American Conference contest at Kent State University Saturday afternoon 80-50. In the loss graduate student Hannah Spitzley paced the Broncos with 18 points, while junior Marina Asensio added 13 points and a game-high eight assists.

During the first quarter Saturday, WMU scored 12 points behind four from Spitzley and five from Asensio. After Kent State built a 7-11 lead with 5:33 remaining in the first, the Broncos rallied and outscored the Golden Flashes 5-3 to pull within two points after a three-pointer from Maggie Stutelberg and a layup from Asensio.
