Western Michigan University’s football field is being named Stafford-Smith Field after a historic gift of $5 million from David and Ronda Stafford. This is the largest contribution in WMU athletics history.
This $5 million gift will be used to directly support projects for the football program per WMU athletics.
David Stafford was a member of WMU’s football team from 1986-88. Stafford played on the 1988 team that won the Mid-American Conference championship, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in organizational communications and medieval history.
