Western Michigan volleyball took down Ohio, 3-1, in the MAC semifinal Friday to head to the MAC Championship for the first time since 2017.
WMU took the first set 25-19 behind eight kills from sophomore Maggie King. King earned second team All-MAC honors this season as her 255 kills and 3.64 kills per set both ranked eighth in the conference. The Broncos had a .289-.108 advantage in attack percentage as Ohio was clearly missing Tia Jamerson, the Bobcats’ team leader in kills and a first team All-MAC selection, who was unable to play.
Rachel Bontrager got hot early in the second, accounting for six of the Broncos’ first seven points with kills, ending the set with 10 as the Broncos won, 25-16, to take a 2-0 advantage in the match.
