WMU QB Jon Wassink out for regular season with broken collarbone

KALAMAZOO, MI - Western Michigan quarterback Jon Wassink suffered a broken collarbone during the Broncos' 20-17 Week 8 win over Eastern Michigan, and the junior will miss the rest of the regular season.

WMU coach Tim Lester delivered the injury update during a Tuesday press conference, stating that the redshirt sophomore will be out six to eight weeks.

That timetable would keep Wassink out of a potential Mid-American Conference championship game appearance, but could allow him to play in a late-December bowl game.

Wassink, a two-time state champion at Grand Rapids South Christian, sustained the injury with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter against EMU, and it was one of two hits to the shoulder he took during the game.
