KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan football led the Mid-American Conference with six student-athletes named to the Phil Steele All-MAC preseason first team, according to an announcement by the publication.
The Broncos had 11 total preseason all-league selections, tied for the second most in the MAC, trailing only 12 picks for Central Michigan.
The WMU honorees were led by the MAC-high six first-team selections. Returning All-America linebacker and 2019 MAC Defensive Player of the Year Treshaun Hayward, 2019 second-team All-MAC defensive lineman Ali Fayad and 2019 third-team all-league defensive back Patrick Lupro represented the defense on the preseason top squad.
